We’re excited to announce the preview release of the new Device Gateway service—designed to simplify the integration of diverse device types with Addinsight.
The Device Gateway acts as a translator between external devices or systems and Addinsight. It communicates using industry-standard or vendor-specific protocols/APIs, then converts the data into the Addinsight Device Protocol v3 (ADPv3) format.
At the heart of this translation process are “connectors”, which the gateway uses to interface with different device types. This preview includes a Camera Connector, allowing users to easily configure image downloads from an HTTP endpoint at regular intervals. Setup is simple: just provide a name, URL, and polling interval to create a new connector, then link it to a Camera resource. The camera images will automatically update in the Addinsight UI based on the configured interval.

Importantly, the Device Gateway service is flexible in deployment—it doesn’t need to run on the Addinsight application server. Multiple gateways can be connected to a single system, and for cloud-hosted environments, gateways can be deployed within the customer’s network. This ensures seamless communication between local devices and the Addinsight server.
This preview marks a significant step toward more scalable and flexible device integration within the Addinsight ecosystem.
